Water Safety Tips!
Now that the Summer months are upon us, water play has become an integral part of nearly every child's summertime activities. With drowning being the leading cause of injury death for children aged one to four years, the need is obvious for extra precautions for our own children as well as those precious little ones under our daily supervision. It must be remembered that statistics show that most drownings happen in familiar settings, such as the child's own backyard, or at a friend's or neighbors house. Plant Safety
Plants are beautiful, especially those with flowery shows in spring or summer. But many plants are poisonous to children and pets.
When planning, or purchasing plants for landscaping, please print this list and bring it with you to the local nursery for easy reference. If you are unfamiliar with any plants in your yard, bring a large enough piece of the plant to a reputable nursery for accurate identification. Keep a list of all the indoor and outdoor plants in your home, with correct spelling of common and botanical names.
Library Safety
The following letters were written by three women who have worked in libraries for many years. I felt they merited placement on our safety page.
I do not have any children but have worked with them off and on for many years in the library setting. First in a Public Library children's room and lately in a University Library (we still get a few.)
